START METHOD USED HERE
Chain 18. Dc in fourth chain from hook and in each remaining chain.
15 actual dc + skipped ch-3 counted as first dc = 16 dc positions.
Independent width check: 4 + 4*3 = 16.
Do not substitute a fifth-chain start unless the foundation is recalculated.

BEFORE EACH LATER ROW
Turn, ch 3 (counts as first dc). Do not add a dc into the same underlying stitch.
Read each cell after this established boundary:
F over F: dc in next 3 stitches.
F over O: 2 dc in ch-2 space, dc in next boundary post.
O over F: ch 2, skip 2 stitches, dc in next boundary post.
O over O: ch 2 across the old space, dc in next boundary post.
Final dc goes in the top of the previous turning ch-3.
