Columns set the horizontal detail; rows set the vertical detail. A 32 × 32 design has 1,024 cells. A 64 × 64 design has 4,096. This version supports 8–128 cells per side, up to 16,384 cells.

A flower, rebuilt as cell fills.
Every little square stays editable.

Each pixel becomes one spreadsheet cell with a solid background color. The downloaded workbook contains a sheet named Pixel Art, starting at A1. There is no single picture pasted over the cells.
Try this original flower illustration before choosing your own image. The example XLSX uses 32 columns, 32 rows, and 16 px cells. Open it, select a colored cell, and give it a new fill.

This tool turns shapes and colors into cells. It does not extract words, numbers, or tables from a photograph.
GIVE EACH SQUARE SOME SPACE
Image detail and cell display size
are two different choices.
Columns set the horizontal detail; rows set the vertical detail. A 32 × 32 design has 1,024 cells. A 64 × 64 design has 4,096. This version supports 8–128 cells per side, up to 16,384 cells.
Keep the proportion lock on to follow your image’s shape. Unlock it to choose a different grid, then use Fit entire image or Center crop. Neither option stretches your source.
Choose 12–32 px cells for the workbook. Larger cells make the drawing bigger on the sheet; they do not add image detail. The on-page preview fits the available space independently.
Start small, then add detail. More cells usually mean a larger file and more work for your spreadsheet app. The size estimate is a guide; the exact download size appears after export. You can cancel an export without losing your image.
TAKE YOUR CELLS WITH YOU
The download is a standard .xlsx workbook.
Keep a copy before making changes.
Cell fills are stored in the XLSX file. Row and column sizing can look different between spreadsheet apps, fonts, and zoom settings; check the proportions after opening. Importing into Google Sheets sends that downloaded file to Google.
ONE CELL. A DIFFERENT COLOR.
Your Excel pixel art remains editable. Select one cell to change a single pixel, or drag across a range to recolor a larger area. Use the spreadsheet app’s fill-color control; changing the font color will not recolor the cell background.
The workbook uses direct fills, with no macros, hidden source image, or color formulas. Transparent pixels become unfilled cells. Use Undo if you change the wrong square, then save your revised workbook.

BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR WORKBOOK
A few practical details about
cells, files, and your image.
Yes. The design consists of individual cells with background fills. Open the Pixel Art worksheet and use Fill Color to change them. The file is not protected and contains no embedded picture covering the cells.
Use File → Import → Upload in Google Sheets and choose the XLSX. Create a new spreadsheet, then open the Pixel Art tab. Check the row heights and column widths after importing; you can adjust them if your cells appear rectangular.
No. Image to Excel pixel art means converting an image’s colors into cell backgrounds. It does not read text, reconstruct a photographed table, or make a spreadsheet of extracted data.
Spreadsheet apps measure column widths and row heights differently. The export sets both for an approximately square appearance with Calibri 11. Font substitution or import settings can change it. Adjust the row heights and column widths together, and inspect at 100% zoom.
The workbook sets the drawing as its print area, with landscape US Letter paper and one-page-wide scaling. Check Print Preview in your app before printing. A large grid may become small on paper; adjust the scaling, margins, or paper size there.
Use PNG, JPG, or WebP up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels. With Preserve transparency enabled, pixels below 50% opacity become blank cells. This does not remove a solid background from a photo. The workbook has no paint-by-number codes in this version.
Choose Cancel export, then try a smaller grid. If no file appears after the completion message, check your browser’s download settings. Your preview stays available, so you can retry without choosing the image again.
Conversion and export happen in your browser. No image or filename is sent to our server. Following a link to the other tool in this tab uses temporary browser storage to carry your image and settings. The transfer is deleted when read; unused transfers expire after one hour and are cleaned up on the next transfer. Download your work before closing the tab.
