Cat Pixel Art: Original Designs and Printable Grids
Three ginger cats in distinct poses, ready to draw or reuse. Get transparent PNGs, numbered reference grids and a clear permission note for your projects.

The ears establish the cat; the back, paws and tail establish the pose. This cat pixel art collection gives you three different silhouettes to work with: a front-facing sitter, a curled sleeper and a cat taking a step to the right. Each drawing has its own transparent PNG and matching reference grid.
You can download the files immediately or copy a pose cell by cell. All three use the same four colors, so changing the coat color does not require rebuilding a different palette for every cat.
Cat Pixel Art Designs
Sitting cat pixel art
Front-facing ears, a cream chest and a tail held beside the body. The two dark foreleg lines keep the seated pose readable. Its PNG canvas measures 24 × 28 pixels, including the transparent margin.
Sleeping cat pixel art
A low curled body with a tucked head and closed eyes. The tail follows the lower edge instead of standing above the back. Its PNG canvas measures 32 × 20 pixels, including the transparent margin.
Walking cat pixel art
A right-facing profile with an upright tail and staggered paws. This is a single walking pose, not a sequence of animation frames. Its PNG canvas measures 32 × 24 pixels, including the transparent margin.
These are three standalone drawings rather than interchangeable frames for a walk cycle. Their canvases and body proportions differ. The 4× downloads below enlarge the same artwork; they do not add poses or details.
Follow the Grid for Each Cat
Set up a canvas matching the dimensions of your chosen PNG. The chart origin is the upper-left corner: column 1 runs down the left side, and row 1 runs across the top. Each letter names a pixel color. An unlettered square has no fill, even when it lies between the tail and body.
- D — Dark outline: #363543.
- G — Ginger: #D69458.
- C — Cream: #F3D9A6.
- P — Pink: #DB9B9B.
Draw the dark outer contour before the face. Add ginger inside the contour, then place the cream and pink details according to the letters. On paper, leave the unlettered squares uncolored; in a drawing app, leave those pixels transparent.
Sitting cat: drawing reference

Keep the two eye marks in columns 9 and 15, on rows 9–10. The dark lines beginning at row 20 separate the forelegs from the chest.
Sleeping cat: drawing reference

The eye marks step down into short horizontal lines rather than forming open dots. Preserve the dark boundary around the curled tail so it stays distinct from the belly.
Walking cat: drawing reference

Copy the space beneath the belly as carefully as the legs. Joining all four paws with a filled horizontal strip would erase the stride.
For a recolor, replace ginger with another midtone while keeping enough contrast against the dark contour and pale details. Check the small original after each change: the face may read clearly when enlarged yet disappear at its native size.
Use nearest-neighbor resizing when you need a larger copy with hard pixel edges. For example, the sitting cat's 24 × 28 canvas becomes 96 × 112 at 4×: every source pixel occupies a 4 × 4 block. The provided larger PNGs were made this way, without smoothing or new shades.
Download PNGs and Printable Grids
The native files are transparent cat pixel art PNGs, not pictures of the white chart background. They contain only the colored cat and transparent space. The 4× versions keep that transparency; choose the native size for pixel editing and the larger copy when you need a ready-enlarged image.
| Drawing | Native PNG | 4× PNG | PDF page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sitting cat | 24 × 28 px | 96 × 112 px | 2 |
| Sleeping cat | 32 × 20 px | 128 × 80 px | 3 |
| Walking cat | 32 × 24 px | 128 × 96 px | 4 |
Download the printable cat pixel art grids — four-page PDF
The first page introduces the files and permission terms; the following three pages hold the numbered drawings. The document uses US Letter pages. Select the individual pose's page number to print just that grid, or fit the document to A4. Grid letters remain the reference when printing without color. These are drawing sheets, not measured bead or crochet templates.
Permission for these cat drawings
You may copy, recolor and modify these three cats for personal or commercial projects, including games, websites, classroom activities and printed items. Credit is welcome but optional. You may distribute the cats within a finished project; do not resell or redistribute the unchanged download files as a standalone asset pack or imply that MotifPad endorses your work.
This permission is specific to the supplied cat PNGs and their grid PDF. It does not extend to the site's branding, other artwork or article text. Keep the collection's usage-permission note with your files.
For a reference based on your own cat's photograph, the image to pixel art converter accepts an existing image. That is a separate starting point from the three poses offered here; it will not automatically redraw a photograph as one of these cats.
